Getting ready to apply for a Kentucky VA home loan? Having your paperwork ready before you apply is the single best way to speed up your approval — especially if you want to be ready to make an offer quickly. Here is exactly what every applicant needs to have on hand.
Documents Every Kentucky VA Loan Applicant Needs
- Social Security numbers for all borrowers
- Residence addresses for the past two years
- Names and addresses of your employers over the past two years
- Your current gross monthly income (most recent pay stubs)
- W-2s for the past two years
- Names, addresses, account numbers, and balances on all checking and savings accounts (recent bank statements)
- Account numbers, balances, and monthly payments on all open loans and credit cards
- Addresses and loan information for any other real estate you own
- Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and DD-214 (for veterans — I can help you order your COE if you don’t have it)
- If self-employed: personal tax returns for the past two years, plus a current income statement and balance sheet for the business
What Happens Next?
Once your documents are in, your lender orders a credit report and, after you’re under contract, the VA appraisal. Most Kentucky VA loans can close in about 30 days when the file is complete up front.
